2018 Hugo and Nebula Awards Eligibility: Short Fiction

I was very, very lucky to have 2 pieces of speculative short fiction published this year, pieces that are near and dear to my heart, and—this is a big first for me—I’m offering them both for Nebula and Hugo Award consideration!

They are:

“What the Wolf Taught” – published by Corvid Queen, February 2, 2018

This is a new feminist fairy tale, and is influenced by the origin story of my ethnic Italian culture. It’s a tale of feminine reawakening via a return to wildness.

“The Disappearance”-published by Speculative City, August 20, 2018

This is a feminist retelling of the Bluebeard fairy tale, but told as a story about magic, magicians, and witchcraft. In contrast to Hollywood stories about magicians, where women are little more than sexualized props, this is about a woman taking control of her destiny. It’s also a commentary on how the Harvey Weinsteins of the entertainment industry create a culture of complicity around the abuse and exploitation of women.

Thank you so much for your consideration. It is an honor and a pleasure to offer you this work.
