February 2015 is the 6th annual Women in Horror Month (#WiHM666) and since I just joined the ranks of women in the horror community, I plan on celebrating in style by giving back! I’ll be promoting some of the brilliant women who write horror by interviewing them on my blog so my readers can learn about rockin’ lady scribes they might have not heard of. So far, interviewees include Kendare Blake, author of ghostly YA horror novels Anna Dressed in Blood and Girl of Nightmares, and Dana Fredsti, author of zombie novels Plague Town, Plague Nation, and Plague World; author Lish McBride of the hilariously dark Hold Me Closer, Necromancer and Necromancing the Stone, and author Maria Alexander, who wrote the super creepy Mr. Wicker, which is on the preliminary ballot for the Bram Stoker Awards this year. WOOT.
Also in the name of giving, I’m doing another book giveaway on Goodreads! I’m setting aside six copies of VEGAN TEENAGE ZOMBIE HUNTRESS (since 666 is the theme of the month) and six lucky winners will each get one, signed and personalized. And if you don’t win the giveaway, the Kindle edition of VTZH will be on sale for a screaming deal of 99 cents from Feb. 18 – 23 (for exactly 6.66 days—ha). Either way, it’s a scream.
On February 14, I’ll be appearing at Northwest Horrorfest to do reading during the first intermission. Come celebrate your Bloody Valentine by checking out the latest and greatest indie horror shorts, and get treated to a reading too! Buy tix HERE.
Lastly, on February 20, I’ll be performing live at Vaginomicon, Seattle’s very own Women in Horror Month celebration. Ticket proceeds will go to charity, and Seattle’s best female horror personalities will be out in full force, doing hilarious and thought-provoking horror-themed monologues for your enjoyment. I’ll be reading something completely new and funny. Tix are available HERE.
